How the technique works
Powder/ombre microshading uses a digital permanent makeup machine to implant thin layers of pigment that build a soft, shaded look rather than individual hair strokes. The layered approach creates a powder-like finish with natural definition, and each session includes careful brow mapping so shape, arch and density are designed for your face and preferences within the appointment window.
Appointments are scheduled for 120 minutes to allow time for mapping, shading, and client comfort. A perfecting session is typically scheduled about 6–8 weeks after the initial appointment to refine healed pigment and symmetry; that follow-up is offered at no additional cost when our cancellation and rescheduling policy is honored.
Healing and what to expect
Immediately after the procedure pigment often looks 30–40% darker; this is normal and will soften as the skin heals. Expect scabbing between days four and fourteen — never pick scabs — and keep the area dry for about 7–10 days while following the aftercare ointment instructions. Avoid sun exposure and makeup on the brows during initial healing to protect pigment retention.
True settled color emerges over weeks two to six as surface flakes and the epidermis regenerates. A 6–8 week touch-up is essential to perfect color, fill lighter areas and adjust symmetry. Many clients report minimal discomfort and appreciate the technician’s careful mapping and pace, which helps keep the experience controlled and predictable.
Longevity and maintenance planning
Results can last up to 3 years, but retention varies with skin type, lifestyle, aftercare and individual pigment absorption. To keep color, shape and freshness, book a Color Shift appointment within either 12–18 months or 18–36 months from the original service. If routine maintenance is not completed within recommended windows, a new set investment may be required to restore the original effect.
Local factors matter: Columbia’s humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and frequent storms, can increase sweating and sun exposure, both of which affect pigment fade.
